Heart Breaker for Seth at Grays Harbor during ASCS Northwest Opener.

Racing can be a cruel sport and Seth and the team experienced it in at the round 1 of the ACSS Nortwest sereis at Grays Harbor. After leading the A Main for 15 laps Seth was coasting to his third consecutive win when the water line on his 23 broke off only to have his perfect night come to an end.

After his dominant performances over the past month Seth was eager for the first round of ASCS Northwest. With the likes of Roger Crockett and Jason Solwold coming into town Seth was going to get a true gauge of just how much he has improved in 2010.

After drawing pills Seth was put into heat race number five starting in the third position behind Glen Borden Jr and Roger Crockett. The heads up showdown with Crockett was what we were looking for. As the race went green Seth dove in under Crockett on turns 1 and 2 and only to have the yellow wave for an early caution. On the second restart again Seth raced down the straight away and got position for a pass on Crockett this time no yellow and Seth raced into second and chased down Borden quickly. On lap four Seth made Borden pay for an error on turn four and from there the 23 raced away for the heat race and a guaranteed top 8 position for the main event.

Seth found himself second in points after the heat races and was rewarded with the number 3 position for the A Main starting behind Jason Solwold and Josh DeWitt. The track was again rough and had already claimed several cars including the 33v of Henry Van Damm who destroyed his car during his heat race.

With 20 cars in the field and the track being in the condition it was the team knew it was going to be a long race. As the race went green Seth got a good start as he raced in behind Solwold on the opening lap only to have the red wave for Brian Kirkpatrick in the 5K who flipped his car in 1. As the race restarted Seth got a great run on the bottom and got around DeWitt on turn two only to have Dewitt pass Seth and Solwold going into 3 and 4 on the top. Seth quickly made the adjustment on the next two laps and lined up Solwold with a great pass going into turns 1 and 2.

On lap five Seth caught DeWitt in traffic and swooped to the lead coming out of turn four and raced away. Unfortunately for Seth he was unable to get a long green as racers struggled with the tough conditions.  It was clear to everyone at the track that Seth was the best driver as he was able to put distance on the field on each restart, but on lap 19 the unthinkable happened as white smoke spewed out the back of the 23.

The team immediately thought the motor had been blown but as Seth came into the pit area he confirmed that the water line had blown off. Jason Solwold went on to win the race with Jayme Barnes taking second and Logan Forler thirdl. It was bitter pill for the team to swollow after the team clearly let one get away but the postive to take away was that Seth was again the best car at the truck and now everyone in the Northwest truly knows that Seth is one of the contendors for the championship in 2010.

The boys will do it again for night two of this two night opening Memorial Weekend ASCS event.

Seth Sizzles at Grays Harbor Winning His Third Race of 2010

It’s offical Seth Bergman is hot right now. For the second week in a row Seth guided the Superior Marine number 23 to victory lane and took his third race in total for the season at Grays Harbor Raceway.

Elma had been hit by rain late in the week and it was a muddy pit area when the team arrived. Thankfully the rain stayed away and the night started with Seth timing in fourth quick.

That placed him in heat number 1 starting in the fifth spot behind local drivers Jay Cole and Glen Borden Jr who had performed well in heat races previously. Like previous weeks it didn’t take long before the “Great White” #23 pounced and after four laps Seth had carved his way up to second. Borden Jr had got out into clean air but with each lap Seth took chunks of his leads. Unfortunately he came up one lap short as Borden Jr was able to hold on for the heat win.

Lady luck had been good to the team with the invert and tonight proved to be no different as we found ourself starting on the front row outside the 9p of Jared Peterson. As we went green Peterson got the jump and got out to early lead only to be realed in by Seth on the second lap. He took the lead and quickly stretched it to a five car length break by the end of the thrid lap. At the end of the third lap the first yellow of the night came out for the 11 car which stopped in turn four.

As we went green Seth showcased the car’s acceleration =as he screamed off into the distance it was clear that only thing stopping Seth was going to be cautions, a mechanical issue or run in with a back marker. Laps ticked away and Seth built up a half track lead until the caution came out on lap twelve for the 15j stopped in turn two. During the caution the 21 and 76 pulled into the infield as the Grays Harbor track again took it’s toll on the field. Like last week the next five laps were filled with cautions and this had given the opportunity for the 33V of Henry van Damm as well as the 98m of Mitch Olson to get within striking distance. While Seth’s biggest rivals were sniffing an opportunity they did not have an answer for Seth on any of the restarts as the Wesmar powered 23 raced away and was never threatened and crossed the line five car lengths in front of Van Damm with Olson finishing third.

It has been a tremendous start to 2010 for Seth and the team and we now move next week to the opening rounds of the ASCS North West series. Rounds 1 and 2 of the ASCS opener will be held at Grays Harbor over the Memorial Weekend on Saturday and Sunday. We hope to see you down there for a great weekend of racing.

Seth Takes 2nd At Grays Harbor Raceway.

Round 4 of the 360 series in Elma concluded with Seth taking home a 2nd place finish at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma.

The night started with Seth timing in sixth quick which put him starting fourth for heat race number 2. Seth started his heat with a brilliant pass on the top of turns 1 and 2 and quickly took the lead after the first lap. From there he was never challenged and raced away to his first heat race win for 2010.

The invert did not offer any favors to the team and Seth found himself starting in 6th place for the A Main. After working the top so effectively in the heat race Seth was hoping that a similiar sweep around 1 and 2 would sling shot him to the front, but the Grays Harbor track had gone away and it was clear that it was going to be a battle on the bottom for the 25 lap feature.

A dusty track made visibility difficult for the fans at the track but Seth worked his way through the field with timed passes on the bottom of the track. After 20 laps Seth found himself in third place and quickly on the heels of Shaun Rice and leader Henry Van Damm. Both had been out in front since the green but with no cautions Seth found himself having to burn through the laps to get his shot. on lap 22 Seth got by rice going into three and raced onto the tale tank of Van Damm.

On lap 23 a back marker managed to position himself between Seth and Henry going into turns 1 and 2 and that proved to be the difference at the end as Seth was unable to get a good shot at sliding under Van Damm before the checkered.

Another great run by Seth and the team coming from sixth to get to second on a track that was providing no passing opportunities during the feature. “I made a mistake during qualifying and that proved to be the difference in me probably winning tonight. All in all I’m really happy with the car we were fast again tonight” said Seth after the race who holds the points lead for the 360 series at Elma after four rounds of racing.

Seth and the team will be back at Elma next Saturday night for Round 5 of the 360 series.
