Seth Takes 2nd on Night 2 of the National Tour Race from Cottage Grove

On night two Seth went one better as he was able to come home in 2nd place for his second consecutive podium finish at the ASCS Lucas Oil National Tour race from Cottage Grove Oregon.

Having finished night 1 in the 3rd place Seth was guaranteed a top 6 starting position finish for the A Main. This was a great feeling as all of our competitors on the ASCS Northwest tour were going to have to fight it out with the National boys to make the show.

When the heat races were finished ASCS Northwest point leader Roger Crockett found himself in the B Main after his car stopped during his heat race. Mitch Olson also found himself having to come through a B and the pressure would be on for those guys to maintain their lead in the current point race.

Before the B’s commenced drivers headed to the front stretch for the redraw and lady luck was again kind to us with Seth drawing the 2 ball for the second straight night and found himself starting alongside Brady Bacon. Jason Johnson and Shane Stewart would start in the row behind followed by Billy Nutter and Matt Covington.

With the B’s all wrapped up the top 4 drivers were able to come out for hot laps, and you wouldn’t believe that Roger Crockett and Mitch Olson both missed the A Main. Both drivers would end up taking promoter provisionals which allowed them to race for prize money only but not points.

Seth was going to have to peddle like crazy at the start with the likes of Johnson and Stewart on his heels and as the race went green Seth got on his horse as both he and Bacon raced away with Johnson in toe as the first lap was in the books. Bacon was able to get out to to an early lead in clean air as Seth had Johnson hot on his heels.

On lap 4 Johnson was able to get underneath the 23 going into turn’s 1 and 2 as both drivers would race up to lapped traffic. Seth was right behind Johnson as Bacon had cleared out from both of them. The man on the move was Jayme Barnes and on lap 14 he was able to get by Seth before the yellow came out for Matt Convington.

As the race went green Seth was back on the heels of Barnes. Barnes was on a mission as he slid under Johnson on lap 15  to take 2nd but on lap 16 the race would change as Barnes got loose on the back shoot and collided with Johnson wiping both of them out the race. Johnson would make the restart but Barnes was done for the night.

Green flag waived and Seth was back in second with Zach Chappell and Danny Wood close on his heels. Wood was

closing as the yellow waived on lap 20 for a cone which some how had made it’s way onto the track. At this point it was a race for 2nd as Bacon had enough cars in between himself and Seth that it was going to take a mistake from Bacon to

get close.

We would go green again and Seth remained on the gas getting around lapped traffic and by lap 25 had created a 5 car length gap back to Chappell and it looked like we would go green to the checkered before Jason Johnson spun to bring out the yellow on lap 30. Seth had managed to get lapped traffic between himself and Chappell but there were six cars between the 23 and Bacon. The green would waive for the last time and it was Bacon who was able to take his 4th ASCS National Tour win this season, with Seth coming in 2nd and Zach Chappell in 3rd.

With out a doubt it was Seth’s best weekend of his career with two podium finishes with the ASCS National Tour. Seth showed to the sprint car world that he is without a doubt one of the most improved  drivers in the country this year. “Big Sexy’s” confidence is at an all time high as he head’s to the 360 Nationals at Skagit Speedway next weekend as one of the guys to beat.
