Seth Finishes Well At ASCS Red River Shootout
With rain washing out the ASCS National Tour for the fourth straight time a field of fifty six cars rolled into Oklahoma City for night one of the ASCS Red River Shootout.
To say racing has been limited over the last month would be an understatement so the team was eager to put in good showing against a strong ASCS field.
Seth rolled out for heat number three which saw him in a loaded heat with national drivers Zach Chappell, Kevin Ramey and Joe Wood Jr. Saw started the heat in sixth position and found himself at the the rear of the field as he went wide going into turn one. Seth had his work cut out but he pushed his Shark powered motor around the Oklahoma circuit and climbed back to sixth with three laps to go. He put a great pass on Joe Wood Jr and Ben Gregg to climb to fourth and with a lap to go he had one last chance to try to get past Kevin Ramey. As both drivers entered the final turn Seth through a slide job but wasn’t able to make it stick as Ramey held onto third.
By picking up valuable passing points Seth found himself starting second for B Main number three on the front row with Foster Landon. As the race again Seth got a welcome to Oklahoma from Landon as he ran him off the track but luckily Seth was able to hold on and kept the car from heating the wall. As the laps ticked over Seth got back up to Landon and was able to get by him before the caution came out. On the ensuing restart Landon got away better off the line and was able to hold Seth at bya and ran away to win the B with Seth finishing second and picking up the final transfer spot to the A Main.
With twenty two cars starting in the feature Seth found himself at the back starting next to Jamie Passmore. As the race went green both Seth and Passmore got great starts as they raced to the inside as both drivers quickly picked up three spots on the opening laps. It was evident in the learly going that both Seth and Passmore had far superior cars then the guys at the back of the field as they both sliced there way through the field. By lap fifteen Seth had climbed up to twelfth and he then began duking it out with Passmore, Zach Chappel and Sean McClelland as they all traded positions for five laps. The race had stayed green the entire way and Seth was not able to improve on his twelfth position as he crossed the line righ behind Chappel, McClelland and Passmore.
The race was won by Nick Smith who had been battling with Danny Wood for much of the race while Joe Wood Jr who had started eighteenth finished third.
Seth was extremely happy after the race and was pleased with the fact he had passed 10 guys in the feature considering their where no wrecks.
The team is heading back to Knoxville tonight and will compete in Saturday nights 360 weekly race.
