Seth 4th in ASCS North West Season Opener

Seth leads Rob Held into the opening turn of their heat raceAfter months and weeks of waiting the inaugural ASCS Northwest Tour kicked of proceedings at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma on Saturday night.

There was much anticipation at the track as last years NSCS champion Roger Crockett had returned and a new face was also running in 2007 Dirt Cup champion Jonathon Allard who had replaced Shane Stewart in the Doyle’s Harley Davidson number 1 car.

Going into the race the Seth and the team were extremely confident of putting on a great show after strong performances year to date up at Skagit and at Grays Harbor.

The new ASCS format had every car going into a hat for the ball drop to see where each car would start for the heat races. As it panned Seth started on the pole for heat race number three. When the green flag dropped for Seth’s heat he bid is competition good night as he raced away with a wire to wire victory which guaranteed him a top sixteen place for the feature main event.

Grid order for the feature event is determined by the amount of points you accrue as a result of finishing position in your heat as well as passing points. As a result Seth started in seventh position for the main event which saw Jamie Barnes starting on the pole.

As the green dropped Barnes raced away quickly into open track and it was evident very quickly that Seth was going to have his work cut out to catch the leaders with Allard and Crockett in front of him as well.

A dog fight was taking place up front As Barnes, Henry Van Dam, Jonathan Allard and Roger Crocket all duked it out up front, with Van Dam, Allard and Crocket trading places constantly. While this was taking place Seth was close behind as he raced hard to stay with the leaders. Seth got by Rob Held on lap twelve and raced hard to stay on pace with the lead four. It wasn’t long before Seth caught up to lapped traffic and by that stage the deficit was just too great on the small track.

As they raced to the checkered flag it was Seth’s good friend Jamie Barnes taking the win from Henry Van Dam with Allard in third. Crocket finished fourth in front of Seth, but at the end of the race Crocket was Disqualified and Seth moved up into fourth.

The team was extremely happy with the performance on opening night and are looking forward to continuing where they left off on night two with racing starting at 6:30pm at Grays Harbor.
